I am looking into buying either a z 400 or a new YFZ (so i can finance it), i just wanted to know how the Z runs with the YFZ, obviously the YFZ has alot more pwer overall but i just wanted to hear from the Z owners.

I have both. The Z is very comfortable, well balanced, ergonomic, and has good power. You can ride it all day and feel good.

The YFZ is twice as fast.

Its not all bike, a guy I ride with just got his YFZ about 3 months ago, I can smoke him on trails/desert cause he is still not used to the bike and I am pretty sure it will be a while till he gets as comfortable as he was on his 400EX. Power is'nt everything.

Plus you should go try and ride both. I love the power of the YFZ but I am 6ft tall and the YFZ seems very small to me especially when I am standing and my knees are a little higher then the seat. On mine my knees are just below where the plastics and seat come together.

If this is your first quad I would say get the Z cause its a little more user friendly for beginners. Just my .02

my 2cents is: don't buy a z just bc its user friendly, if you are gonna spend the money go all out and get the YFZ. even if it is your first bike, bc you will get used to it pretty fast. you'll kick yourself later(once you've ridden for a while) if you get the z for a reason like that.

but it's your bike...

You could buy a used Z400. If you like it you could ad a Yoshi 450 kit. They are not cheap, but you will beat cam modded YFZ's and have a comfy seat. You'll still need help in the handling dept.. My bro owns a Yoshi Z450.. Both machines have plus/minus but the YFZ starts you out on a higher platform of performance..

I did get my head handed to my by a Z400 while I was on my YFZ at the dunes. Racing up hill, the guy had a big bore of some type so yes I am in agreement it can be done!

I am 6' and the YFZ feels a little small when first sitting on it, but when riding it doesn't. But the handlebars need to come up, I put a Trailtech set on mine with big bar clamp brought it up 3/4" which helps a little.
