Im usally woods riding and thinking bout doing some local racing ..what one has more power

 

the z400 is a tiny bit faster, for 2005, the z got great suspension. the 400ex is very reliable and strong, lots of low end.

-65mph stock,
- it's a honda will run forever
-2005 has reverse 450r plastics
-(wish i had one)
z400
-70mph stock
-liquid cooling
-(nice ride)
For what your going to be doing they are both perfect which ever one you get cheaper buy it!

both great quads i dont know how reliable the z400 is since i dont have one but my friends z400 seems to hold up fine and as far as the trails are i like how my 400ex feels better than the z400 and as far as speed goes i cant feel a diff between the 2 me and my friend race all the time and somtimes he wins somtimes i win but i always get the hole shot every time unless we switch then he gets the hole so either 1 will serve u som fun and his z400 is an 03 model

 

hands down the z-400 is a lot better of a bike i have both and the z as alot newer technolgy and motor is alot more advance then the ex. get the z

 

660 i wouldnt say the z400 is better in any way cause a 400ex will never die and ive heard things on the z but both are good quads

 

i never heard of 400ex problems to speak of either, i do remember hearing a few frame stories about the z, not to mention the first model years the axle would bend in half.....

to be honest i like my 400ex, and couldnt see spending the extra for the z. liquid cooling is nice, but the 400ex doesnt seem to need it ever, and if i go big bore, then i will get a oil cooler, and bigger oil tank and be at lower temps then i was all togeather stock...
