king's Reverse Broke After new ecm

OK now here is something to think about.
Assuming - at this point still an assumtion- Suzuki fixed the problem with the redesigned bearing I pose the following:
Will people still be stuck with the de-tuned ECM?
Is this fix strong enough not to have to worry about the reverse restrictions?
Even if it is strong enough what do you wanna bet Suzuki stays with the new de-tuned ECM as insurance against putting more stress on what still may be a less than optimum part so they don't have to pay to swap out ECMs yet again on effected machines?
Even if the new bearing fixes the problem there are still some things to be considered.

i lost reverse in mine after 75 miles i backed up about 100-120 feet to talk to a couple of friends and like you said i felt and heard it let loose then could hear something rattlin around dealer talked to suzuki and they are sending my entire machine to california or someplace and sending me an identical one with the supposed new gear fix or whatever it is which was fine with me i love breakin em in. and i had the new updated ECM thats just a joke beef up the gear and give us full reverse power again that would be nice but still love the thing they'll get it right pretty soon

I picked up my KQ today with the new motor installed, hope it holds up this time. If they went through the trouble of sending me a whole new engine, hopefully they fixed the problem with the design.

..Please give us a 100 mile report...can you believe all of us...Hoping and holding our breath when and IF a $7000.00 machine can make it 100 miles..because of the faulty suzuki design..!!!

Hey Vinson 581....I see you have the Detroit Gearless Locker. Do you have the unlocker also? I only plow occasionally with my Rubicon, and I am interested in both, Un and Lock, but am unsure how hard the steering would be with the Locker in for plowing snow and manuevering around the yard? I know they are the cats meow for mud and true 4 wheeling, but I never go mudding intentionally, but I do some hill climbing hear in MN in the snow. The Ruby is a full time 4 wheel, which is why I ask. I might be able to plow with it in 2 wheel and chains I suppose. What you thin? or anybody else for that matter? tia Glenn

I would not worry, but don't go out there alone. Some KQ's are loosing reverse when stuck in mud or snow. It is a major failure when it happens and can cost over two grand to fix! Suzuki canada has a new part they get to try in theirs to see if it keeps it all together, but in the U.S. they just detuned all the reverses to be sure that they don't break. It is a overheating issue on the reverse idler...spins too fast heats up, welds itself to the case shaft, snaps the case and bingo you need a whole new engine case. So don't worry but be careful. We are trying to get Suzuki to write to us all and back up the KQ issue with a statement or recall. No luck yet!
