Good shock upgrade for 92 Lt 250R?
#1
Ive got a 92 Lt 250r and still have the stock shocks on the thing and they are just not cuttin it. I need a little help and suggestions as to what mounts right up with no mods. Ive read a couple of topics in here and to my understanding the stock shock off of a 400 ex are pretty good shocks but im not sure what years will work. I dont have the money yet to buy $600-$700 shocks. im just looking for something with a little better suspension, rebuildable if possible. Any help is appreciated.

My brother has the 400 ex shocks on his 91 lt250r. I will have to ask him what year 400 they are off of. I think the 400 ex shocks on the 400 ex are weak but on the lighter 250 they are just right. my .02...

with a little bit of grinding lt500 shocks will work up front. my cousin has bolted them on because he kept blowing the lt250 shocks when jumping it. would be alot cheaper for sure and hold up to more abuse

im puttin stock 400ex shocks on the front of mine ( any year fits, they are all the same ), and i sent my stock rear to Works to get a complete revalve and rebuild....getting the back revavled is gonna be a better idea than buyin a non adjustable, cheap rear shock. The 400 shocks i heard work awesome since the LT is lighter than a 400...but anything is going to be an improvement over the 17 year old stockers.

A word of advice. If you do chop LT500 shocks to fit, they are shorter and will lower your machine. When I took them off and put the Elkas on it went up at least a coupele inches. They work well, and are rebuildable, jst be aware they will lower your bike. And a ride height change on a 250 equals a toe change as well so dont forget to line it up after if you do put a set on.

So am I getting this right, the honda 400 ex front shcoks can bolt right up to my lt250r even if I have the stock a arms? I was also curious does hondas 250r shocks bolt right up? What other parts from honda fit on the lt's without modifying? Because it seems its a little easier to get parts for those than it is the LT's. I was also wondering if any of the parts from the LTZ's bolt right on? Thanks in advance for the input.

you dont chop the lt500 shocks come on does that even sound right to you??? all you need to do is grind some of the surface down were the bolt runs through so it will fit in between the shock mounts. thats it would take 5 mins at most per shock.
