Default IMPORTANT Jetting Question On Z400

Hey all. I am going to re jet my carb. What do i have to do to be able to get at my carb? its a 2004 z400.

and if i buy the 150 main jet and needle will it run good? I am at 656ft above sea level. I need to know what jet and needle you reccomend.

I have yoshimura slip on with K&N filter, plan on removing air box lid.

its easy to get to the carb. loosen both clamps and turn it on its side
what size jet is in it now? a 150 might be a little small
and I wouldnt worry about the needle right now

what all do i have to do to be able to put the jets in? and what jet should i run with my mods?

you should buy a clymer manual for your wheeler i am in the process of re jetting my carb with the manual i had my gas tank fenders and carb off in less then fifteen minutes plus you should buy a hole jet kit they tell at what elevation your jet size should be

What does Yoshi recommend? I had to put a 165 in with HMF. Like Mucky said 150 seems small

i dont want to go through all the bs of buying the kit, i just want to buy the jet for 5$ and git-r-done. i have a slip on with K&N filter and no lid, what jet to use? looking at mikuni. link is in first post.

Jetting isn't as easy as buying a jet and get-r-done. It takes a while to get it fine tuned. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself until someone teaches you some basics first hand, instead of diving into something new and gettin your quad messed up.

Can't someone at least give him a good starting point? I'm sure there is someone in here with a Yoshi s/o and K&N with an open air box.
