Iwant better acceleration out of my Z. so far ive got a white bro's R4 slip on, and uni air filter with no air box lid. Should i get the header before i start doing other mods to it? How much does the header help it? Also, i was thinking about changing the gearing to a 13 tooth front sprocket for better acceleration. But the problem is i dont want to lose my top end speed. if i get the smaller front sprocket and put on a rev box, to let it rev out farther, would i still lose any top end?

yes you will still lose top end.but it will be quick off the line and some WB slip on's dont have header pipes made for them and you have to buy the the whole pipe and muffler as 1 unit. if they make a header pipe for it then it does make a difference and you will have to rejet for it. ive learned that you cant have both to gain one you lose a little of the other, I would rather have low end torque and quick acceleration then top speed better for climbing and trail riding

Does you quad hit the rev limiter in 5th. If it doesn't you could regear and not loose that much top end

your not going to lose that much top end speed with the 13t sprocket.at the most maybe 1-2 mph on top end.i say go for the 13t sprocket best mod for the buck ,just remember your chain will wear out faster though.
