85 lt230 swing arm bearing questions

Has anybody replaced the bearings on the swing arm? I just looked in my book and it says to take the swing arm in to a shop to get the bearings done, is this true? Are they that hard to do?
Side note, I'm looking for the rear fender mounts that are on the side of the frame to the front part of the rear fenders, anybody have these mounts? Also looking for a taillight assembly, mine is missing.

Not sure about the swing arm but I have a taillight assy. but the lens is broke you can have it for 10 bucks plus s&h from 17201. If you need anything else let me know Ive got tons of extra parts.

Depending on what condition they are in you can do it yourself, the hardest part is getting the old bearings out. I would sugest that you have a buddy help you do it and the easiest way to get the old bearings out was to use a drimal, when putting the new bearings in use a mallet and a socket. also the shock with most likely be difficult but not to bad oh and try not to drop any off the needle bearings.

Well, ok, it sounds like I should be able to do it myself. I have a bench vise and even C-clamps. I've had the rear shock off to replace it so that will be easy, the bolt for the swing arm looks a little rusted so I'll spray that down good first.
solman - I'm looking for a complete lamp so I can wire it in. My was missing when I got it. I definately am looking for more parts, like a muffler (mine has a hole in it), a good condition front hood (smaller black nose piece). If you have pics you can email me of these parts, let me know.
chazekxt- I'm going to write Vince's cycle and see if his chain protector is better than the stock. Looking at it, it would keep it off the block if it throws and would just come off the front sprocket and fall off. With the stock, there is no room for it to go anywhere and it justs sits there and chews up the engine. I also what his custom rollers he sells.

Ok, I fabricated the rear fender mounts with a couple pieces of flat metal with holes in it, works great, no floppy fenders in the rear. Now I'll start taking it apart to do the swing arm bearings. After this, a new exhaust and it will be very ridable, just needing stupid cosmetic stuff. Riding season is aproaching out here even though we just 4" of snow last night.

I've finally found the time to take the swing arm off of my 230 and I noticed that the swing arm bolt has 2 spots on it that are smaller diameter than the rest of the bolt. Is the bolt worn or is this normal?
