Default 03 Z400 Opinions PLEASE.....

I'm looking to pick up a 03 Z400 but am reading that they have transmission and frame issues. I love the performance of these machines but 03 seems to be a bad year. Please let me know your opinions and stories. Thanks!!

I have not had any problems with my 03 z400 regarding the frame or transmission I also have never heard of any of them having either. I race mine about 2 days a week (a total of seven practices and two races per week) and also ride about 4-7 hours on sundays so my bike gets plenty of abuse. I have also had several pretty bad accidents so I would think if ther were frame issues I would have found them by now.

Hey Eric. I'm looking to get an 2005 z400 myself. I have heard of no problems either with the 03's. Have you been out riding at all? Send me a PM if you go out riding.

I didn't hear anything about tranny issues HOWEVER I have heard a lot about the frames breaking above the front shock mounts. It was all over the forums in '03 when it came out. There are many who have had theirs with no problems. Do a search and ou might come up with something. I highly recommend an '05 if you could $wing it because of all the upgrades (shocks) plus more power...unless money is a big factor (usually is 99% of the time). The '05 setup is impressive.

i've never had a problem with mine and i've crashed it 3 times and once I was over 50mph when I crashed and never hurt it yet, except a few scratches on the plastics.
the only thing that ever gets hurt is me
