stock z 400 losing to a piped 400ex ???

stock z 400 losing to a piped 400ex ???
my friend has a stock z and my other friend has a 400ex with a fmf titanium 4 pipe and he beats the z but not by much just a bit in take off sometimes and a little in top do to his tires, but i read in dirt wheels and 4 wheel atv action that the z is supposed to beat the ex by at least 1 bike lenght ?? then why is the z being beat ??

a lot of it may depend on rider ability but since the ex is piped it will have a little more power and its possible to beat the stock z
and tell your friend to get his Z piped and jetted and he should have no problems

My friend jay has a Z400 with yoshi slip-on, and jeff has a 400ex with Pro-Circut slip-on, Jay wheighs about 250, Jeff weighs about 145. Both very good experienced riders, in drags the Z400 wins by about 1/2 a quad lenth.
