Mudman, what are you talkin' about? You're just askin' a question, aren't you? You don't really want to put bigger tire on-- what, the front or is it the back you want to put 26 inch tires on? I think you're just messin' with us... :0)

Go narrow front, and remember 11" wheels OR by some 12's.

I'll be doing a similar swap soon.

I would not go larger diameter as your quad may not have the power to turn a larger diameter tire. I have a 99 KQ and am looking to put on Blackwaters. There are not any big tire kits for our bikes out there. I've looked. I talked with a gal at All Terrian Parts and she said the blackwater's were 1" taller but fit the same rims. The whole package was ( including ITS stel rims) was 479$ plus $50 for shipping. If you want th email address or phone # I can give to you

The back tires, 26-12-12 are okay, but the front is an 11" rim and as has been said stay with something narrower on the front like a 25-9-11. I would think you could buy an aftermarket 25 wheel that would work on the four bolt front though. The reason for the narrower front tires ... you can't steer the dam thing! Plus that wide will hit and if you think it has a wide turning radius now ... just toss those 12-12's on the front of it. Not only that, but the extra strain on the front cv joints and diff is not likely going to make for a long committed relationship!

Chuck: ...and everyone else. I got to try my friend's King with Rear Vamps 26-12-12 and Front Kenda Bearclaws 25-8-11 and they work great. His bike is a `95 stock machine and the only place you notice the power loss is where you notice it on the King anyway ... high range and as soon as you see a hill! In low range the thing goes through mud like you wouldn't believe. Without the difflock mod done in regular low range he can get through mud that I can't with stock tires and difflock in low. In other words the larger tires in low range make no power difference that I can notice and a ton more traction. The subtle difference in high range is a fair tradeoff unless you are driving in high all the time anyway and if you are ... may I suggest a Raptor would be a better bike ... just joking of course.

My brother has Vampires on stock rims, front and rear on his 97 KQ.He went to 12 inches wide in the rear and 8 inches wide in the front. He keep the height the same.

Now this quad really sucked in the heavy mud/snow with the stock tread, however, this quad is now a master of mud/snow,it just eats anything in it;s way. What a HUGE differance,
Bill

Good post Mudman! Thanks for the info Wileys. I'm looking for tires also but haven't made a decision as yet, which manufacture to buy. G.Y. 589's, Black Waters, Vamp's. Will stick to less than wide tires on the front.
Thanks,

One thing troubling me, and I haven't had time to check, is: IS the front diff actually a different ratio, or did Suzuki run smaller diameter rubber up front for steering ease?

If someone has a chance, i'd be interestedto know if, in diff lock with all 4 in the air, do they stay "in phaze after 10 revolutions?

My best guess is that theyd only be 1/2 turn off if ratio is different.

I was thinking Swamper's rear and Bear claws front myself. Maybe Vamps, but they look like they'd ride rough on hard pack.

BTW, mine runs like a bat out of H**l in high range! 50-52mph speedo!
