Just curious but....

This will really boil down to your own personal preference. Both the 5-speed and auto perform very much the same and neither has any known tranny problems. I have to give a slight edge to the 5-speed (obviously if you check my sig.) because the 5-speed has a more direct feel to it's acceleration over an auto plus the 5-speed is a little cheaper to purchase.
BUT, if you don't like to shift................

I currently have two Eigers: one auto, one manual (although I'm looking to trade in my manual for a new King Quad!) One is mine, one is the wife's. I can tell you that these have been the most trouble-free quads I have ever owned. The only reason I'm looking to trade up on mine is becasue I ride with all sprt quads and I'm getting tired of being left in the dust
Here is my impression after owning both for alomst 3 years:
MANUAL Text
Pros - feels more powerful, no slipping belt, great for towing/ hauling, sportier feel IMO
Cons - can't really keep great momentum due to auto-clutch (sand, steep uphills), tough to toss roost at fellow riders
AUTOText
Pros - just point and ride, smoother power, easier to keep momentum and speed without shifting
Cons - doesn't feel as powerful as manual
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other Eiger questions.
