Hit a tree at 35... just got the bill
#1
So I go riding last week with a buddy who says he is an experienced rider. I let him ride my daughters 04 LTZ250 and he hits the only tree in the damn desert! He is ok but I just got the estimate to fix it. $3207.07 for a new frame, steering post, a-arms, brakes & rim etc. He said he is going to pay for it to be fixed but I just wonder if I should buy a new one and salvage this for parts. The engine, tranny, plastic and everything else is like new. What should I do? What is the salvage value of the rest of the quad? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I'd make him go buy a new one and then do a 1 for 1 trade. How much downtime are you going to have because of this? That should be brought to his attention. I do understand accidents happen, and they do to everyone of us. What were the circumstances of the wreck? Was it an honest mistake or was he being a jackass?

You might be better off getting a new one. I got mine for $4100 OTD, so you could be getting a completely new quad for $900 more. Probably if you sold the parts from the other one you could get that much money off of ebay.

if your engine is still in good condition thats definatly a good deal. Anything thats useable just throw up on ebay. You have all those unused picture spaces on your page. I'd love to see some pics of that wrecked bike.
Definalty better off buying a new bike because even if they put it all back together theres always room for other things to go wrong because of the accident. Get one that was assembled at the factory not reasembled by joe shmoe dealer mechanic in his shop
