Kingquad Fluid Change?
#1
Hi Guys,
I,m new on here and kind of new to the whole ATV world and I now havemy first question involving my new 05 King. While crossing 2 foot deep brook about 25 feet across I found a hole that was more like 6 foot deep and sunk my bike and stalled it out. I got it out of the water and tried to start it and was unsuccessful at first but finally got it. I then realized that the belt was slipping horribly. I finally found the plug after doing a trailside removal of my skidplate. Now after that long boring story comes my dumb question. I was told that now I must drain all fluids in the bike. Do I really need to do this and if so, why? Thanks in advance!

If you rode it back you might be to late already. You probably took water into the intake and now it's in the oil. You need to check your oil to see if it's milky. If it is, drain and fill 3-4 times to clean out all the crap. You'll want to start the engine after each change for 30 seconds or so.
In the future pull the plug and pull the pull start once or twice to clear the cylinder of any water, then tip the machine form the front to drain any water out of the exhaust. Check your air filter and box as well.
Good luck!

under your airbox there is a clear and very small bottle tip plug, take it out and the water in you air filter will drain. It has happen to me, I would change the oil a couple times at least, and then go for a ride and rechange the oil and filter, it is expensive but your machine is expensive and that is how you learn.

AR15...I would drain everything...no question, as a precaution. There is never any regrets after being overly careful ecspecially if the entire machine took a bath! Also, if you are still in the break in period ...you might take it to the dealer to go through. Just a suggestion.
