Default K&N filters

I hear a lot of you talking about replacing your OEM air filters with K & N filters. Would appreciate any info about the advantages (and disadvantages) of doing this?

Default K&N filters

From other applications I would assume that it would open up air flow. More are more power right?

I ran K&N's for years with no problems, but still I just don't trust them. They are one dimensional, so if you don't catch it the first time, you aren't going to catch it at all. With foam, if it doesn't get caught on the outside, there is plenty of filter left to do the job. I would only run K&N on a street machine.

I now run UNI foam on everything!
