How difficult are they to service and replace being as they are within or at least in close proximity to the rear diff?

From what I've heard they don't require any Maintenance.

Eventually you'll have to change the pads though.....right?

They use clutch plates...the plates should last a very long time!

I guess I'm having a brain malfunction right now, but the rear brake lever is the left-hand one, correct? Do yours feel kind of mushy and not really that powerful? I don't want to wear out the front binders, but they seem a lot more responsive.

i was wondering the same thing about my rears. they feel pretty mushy and dont provide alot of stopping power. must be normal then i guess. unless their not adjusted properly.

Yeah... The rear by itself does not have the stopping power of the front...and certainly not the same as using both... but coming from an AC500... where the rear brake was just one caliper....we have a ton more on the rear then I'm used too!

Picked mine up from the dealer on Thursday, spent all day Friday doing the break in riding, speed up, slow down, cruise, speed up to 70kph, slow down, etc... Did that for about 50kms then just started riding it like a normal person. I did find the rear brakes a bit mushy, checked the calibration marks and they are where they are supposed to be. Manual says the clutch plates are good for 10,000km so that is about 5500 to 6000 miles then they should be changed.

Gave my kids and neice short rides today, love the KING!!

Congrats on the new machine. Did you find the oil change more difficult than it should have probably been? I'm nearing that stage soon.

Have not reached that stage yet. Mechanic at my dealer (who is very good) said to wait until I had reached 500kms (300miles) before doing the oil change. I bought a spare filter and oil when I picked up the quad so I have it in the garage ready and waiting. I was looking at it though and it does look like a real bear to change. I am going to get a oil filter socket for the filter at a local automotive store, makes it much easier. I really dislike having to remove the plastic covering that part of the engine just to check the oil. My old Eiger had a door built-in that just popped out when you wanted to check the oil.

You know it will show up in 06 ;-)
