Z400 Brake question: PLEASE HELP I WANT TO GO RIDING!!
#1
I have a kfx400 and i have to pull the brake handle pretty far before it even engages the brakes, to put it short they have a spongy feel. I searched the forums and everyone reccomended bleeding the brakes which i just did. Needless to say i still have to really sqeeze before i see any results. Please help because i want to go riding tomorrow!

Sounds like you didn't do a very good job of bleeding them. Use you Clymer book and follow the directions exactly to get them bled correctly. Other than the master cyinder being bad or the seals shot on the caliper, which I doubt on a quad this new, it will be they just need bled properly and have the correct amount of fluid.

As easy as bleeding brake lines and mast cyl is in theory I have had lines that wouldn't bleed up until I used a vacuum bleeder.
Make sure you only use the correct brake fluid...its stamped on top
DO NOT use dot5
if a basic bleed doesn't get it done throw it in the back of the truck grab a sixer and go over to the discount brake/alignment place and trade for a good suck
braaaaaap
who uses thier brakes anyways

make sure while you are bleeding the brakes that you always have a high amount of brake fluid in the master cylinder that way when it gets low you don't suck more air in between the brake fluid. Always keep the brake fluid at least half full while bleeding.

yeah i bled them like 4-5 times {and kept the fluid at lest half full} and there starting to feel a little better, not as good as before though, it seems like theres still a decent amount of play. Think i should keep bleeding them? We checked the calipers and pads and everything seems to be working good. any input is greaty appreciated, thanks again guys for your help.

make sure your lines dont have any pinholes or anything in your lines and make sure your lines are connected good with the caliper and that you arent sucking air back in the line....otherwise I cant tell you what else would be wrong
