Default taking vinson for mudbath

im going to a local mudbog where i live tomorrow. i had my sportsman 700 efi there twice and i had a blast other than having to work on it when i got home. i traded it so this is the first time for vinny. i dont expect it go as well in the mud because on the stock dunflops and little ground clearance but ill still have a blast playing in the mud. i hope the vinny leaves there trouble free. i mostly just play around and cut dough nuts and pull people out that get stuck. ive been stuck a time or two myself all in good fun. aint nuttin like having mud on you from head to toe lol. ill let yall know how the vinny done when i get back. maybe sometime in the near future i can get me some 27in titan 589s

Make sure you clean out the rad really good if you get in that mud. The rad seems to get clogged really easy. I had overheating problems after some mud riding a while back and had to really hose the rad to get all the mud out.

you should get a low end clutch kit, a small lift, and some 27 in. vampire super swampers or outlaws. now thats how you get into some serious mud.

dont need a cluth kit mine has the manual shift. im gonna tell you what i was really impressed with the vinson. i went almost everywhere anyone else did with the stock dunflops. i would get in a place where i thought oh no im stuck. then i go from 2nd to 3rd in low range and the zuki comes alive and mud slinging everywhere and it jumps right out. i was down there all day and only got stuck twice. that was one thing i was affraid of with the stock tires on that i would have somebody pulling me out all day but that thing really goes in the mud. and first a best of all i rode it brought it home and didnt have to work on it. no torn boots, no shredded belts, no bad bearings, handle bar grips stayed on, just a all around tuff machine. i also raced a kodiac 450 while i was down there. not even close. the old vinson just smoked em. so now i have 80 miles 10 hrs with no problems. the polaris i owned by now already had 3 torn boots, a shredded belt and the rear foot brake had quit working. you couldnt give me another polaris. luv my zuki. cant wait till i can get me some 27in titans and a warn front bumper. happy mudding.

You'll notice a pretty significant power loss when you go to the 27's. I have the 26 in Mudlites and it did lose a little power but the traction gains offset the power loss. I have heard the Vinson cv joints don't like the big 27's.

ive noticed the axles are small but maybe theyll hold up and if they dont ill get me some gorilla axles. another thing. it only used a 1/4 tank of gas down there playing in the mud and the polaris used a whole tank. i hadnt run a whole tank out yet but when i put fuel in it before the mud bogs i had a half tank left on 40 miles. i never got 40 miles to a tank on my polaris and i ride both of them the same.

I was under the impression that the CV's will handle the 27's as long as A) you're not on full throttle when the fronts hit dry ground and B) you don't put a lift kit on them. I think it's got more to do w/ the angle of the joint and not the size of the tire. I could be wrong, it has happened before but I can't remember when.

Going from stock 25's to 27's only gains you 1 inch of ground clearance. Why bother when Mudlites now come with the deep lug in 25's. You wouldn't lose power (mabye some because of the weight increase but nothing like going up in size.) and you wouldn't have to worry about the added stress on the CV joints. I went to the 26's before the 25's had the newer lugs. Today, I wouldn't go with the 26's the gain in traction would not in my opinion offset the power loss.
