Default KQ 700 in water?

Question for you King Quad owners. I just wondered how it does in deep water as well as just splashing around.
Any problems with belts slipping or whatever?

No belt slippage to report here. I heard of a guy however that got water into his belt exhaust which is between the muffler and the storage box on the rear. That would be some fairly deep water though.

We ride in lots of DEEP mud and water and the KQ always gets water in the belt. There's more than 5 KQs in our group and it's all the same. With that said everyone else that rides with us has the same problem with the exception of those who have a snorkel. As soon as someone comes out with one for the KQ I'm all over it!

I guess I should say water in the belt isn't a real problem because all you have to do is drain and you're good to go. Happy Trails.

It is definitely a problem. Mainly in the rear intake, not the front. You think they would have taken a lesson from Griz and not repeated their mistake. That's the one thing that bothers me about my KQ. We do get into some deep mud/water at times. Even though you can drain it, the water is pretty nasty and I'm sure you leaving some crap in you belt housing.

That's one area where my Sportsman beats my KQ. The belt intakes are way up on top of the gas tank. Last weekend, I floating/skipped across a gravel pit hole with my Sportsman. I was in deep, but too far commited to turn back, so I rode it out. After getting through, I check my belt drain plug and my air box. Not a drop in either.

I would have never tried that with a griz or my KQ.

Definitely don't get too deep, or look for a snorkel kit. Note: It appears Suzuki was thinking about adaptability for the KQ to be snorkled. It looks like it wouldn't take much to mod it using some ABS piping.

Good luck

Default KQ 700 in water?

Just yesterday a bounch of us were riding and we came to a very deep and swift river. We all crossed but the KQ riders have filled belt housings afterward. In fact mine was sputting at about half way and had to ride the waves to shore. Thank God I made it because their was a very very old Honda 300 that didn't! ATV & rider both went down the river end over end several yeards before we could get a rope to them.

My KQ is getting snorkled VERY SOON!

I have to drain the belt on the KQ at least once every ride. I have my exhaust snorkel made up and I am in the process of snorkeling the belt vents and the intake. I'll let you know how it works.
