Mud Bugs on KQ 2005
#1
I am pretty well convinced I want the Bugs on my KQ. My wife mainly rides it and I ride my 6x6. Since she rides it very little I am looking at the least expense to upgrade the tires. What sizes would you folks recommend that can fit on the stock rims? If I cant stay with stock wheels please recommend a wheel type and tire sizes. I am not looking for an extreme machine, just a very capable stock one with durability being my main issue. Thank you. I am guessing 26's would be a good all around choice?

Snowwolfe,
Have you been riding with us at Arctictrails yet? If not you should join on tomorrow ride. We are meeting at the Fred Meyer in Eagle River at 8:00. We will riding the Pinchole trail.
If you didn't know there are many King Quad owners in our group all running different tires.
1 on: 27" Mud Bugs with stock rims
1 on: 26" Mud Lites with stock rims...this is what I use to have on mine.
1 on: 26" Mud Lites with 12" ITP rims
me on: 27" Mud Lite XTRs with 14" ITP class C rims (check out my PICs)
I think there are one or two others but I'm not sure what they are running. If you ask me stick with a 26" tire. You will be happy with most any of them. The Mud Lites are a bit smoother on the hard packed stuff and do pretty well in the muck. The Bugs may do a bit better in the mud but the Mud Lites are a better "all around" tire if you ask me. The down fall of the Mud Lite is the tread is somewhat soft and will not last as long but they will still give you plenty of years.

Would love to go with you guys but I have a booth at the Saturday Market in Anchorage and that takes up all my free Saturdays. But I appreciate the advice on the tires. If there anyone locally offering good prices on the mud bugs or the mud lites?
Thanks guys

Snowwolfe, you can get the 26" Mudlites at GoPro for $330 not including mounting. I have the Mudlites on mine and it does well. Your wife will like the fact that they are not too aggressive and catch on roots and rocks....The 589s seem to do that.
You need to come join us at arctictrails.net.
What part of ER are you from?
What color is you King?

Artic Cat dealer will sell me a set of 4 mudlites for $340. Sizes 26-9-12 for the front and 26-12-12 for the rear. They will mount them for free since I bought my yellow KQ from them. I bought it in Oct and sad to say it hasnt left the back yard yet. I am trying to get it ready for an upcoming caribou and moose hunt. I live in Hertiage Estates in Eagle River, I am an old geezer, 52.
Correction, The fronts may be 26-10-12 as I don't see 9 inch wides avaliable.

Snowwolfe,
We ride with a guy that also has a booth at the market. He doesn't do much riding on Saturdays either unitl winter but he's a blast to have around. Check out our site if you haven't yet. We are a very diverse group. Men, women, children, families, boys and girls...Everyone is welcome!
