Just to clarify your shaft vs belt question:
The belt that you refer to is in the tranny - most automatic ATV's are a belt driven CVT. The Eiger auto is no different - it has an automatic transmission that is driven by a belt however, the final drive to the wheels is via a shaft. The five-speed Eiger has no belt in the tranny and still uses the same shaft drive.
Good luck with the Eiger, it's a great all around ride.

i and a friend both bought the 5 speed and they sound like the lugs on a rear tire is rubbing the fender. louder than exhaust and very annoying especially in 3rd, 4thand 5th gear. i have heard of others doing same. let me know if yours does. (tire is not rubbing)
i now have 158 miles on it and i like the power and handling very much. price wise, i think its the best deal going.

My dad and I just went riding in the woods behind my house. We found that there is a large maze of trails that can take you nearly anywhere on this mountain! It's only 1.4 miles to get across the mountain, and it only takes you about 5 minutes to get across! But there are tons and tons of trails, and we have only taken a few. Problem is, we have to go to a certain place to get onto the trails... let me just say that it isn't... very... legally accessible. Which is odd, because the local punks have been riding back in there since my dad was a kid, and he's nearly 40.

dirtdobbertwo:
Its funny that you mentioned you have a sound that sounds like the tires rubbing on the rear fender.
Im still breaking in a new Vinson and every now and then I hear a sound from the rear that sounds exactly like that......mine is not that loud or annoying though.....just weird. The tires are not rubbing.
