Z400 Front Bearings
#1
Hey guys!
This is my first post, since I am new to the forum, although I have been reading other posts for a little while now. My question is I need to change the front bearings on my 400, I have just bought it a few months back, and I would like to get a manual, I believe you can download one here, but you need to have so many posts before you can get it, so I guess if you guys can help me out with any info, would be greatly appreciated!

the bearings are pressed in the hub. whats wrong with the bearings? do they have a lot of side to side play in them
the hubs are easy to get off but getting the bearing out might be a little hard without the right tools

I have a manual for my z400 and just for added bonus of having better and more microfiche diagrams try www.ronnies.com/micro.htm I copied every single diagrams and parts # list off the site. It makes it easier to walk into the dealer and say I need this part # haha. I find if you ride in alot of mud/water your bearings will wear relatively fast. I know on our 4 honda 3504x4ES's we have the front and have all been replaced at around 3000km. Thats sorta the standard distance at which they all go unless you ride perfectly dry. If your bearings are shot, plop the front of the z up on a stump or jack and wiggle the tire up and down. It should be rock solid and if it moves even alittle back and forth when you push and pull it has to be replaced relatively quickly. Dont wait too long also as it can wear into the hub and then it wont seal good and you will either have to replace bearings more often or replace the hub.
