Default Quadmaster fuel problem

I have a 2000 quadmaster 500 with 650 miles on it and it has developed a problem where it acts like its run out of gas. The only way to get it running is to switch to prime on the fuel switch. I have taken it to the dealer twice for repairs and the dealer can not find any problems. Have any of you had any similar problem and can suggest a fix?

Thanks

Try taking the filter to carb tube off and then tell me what it does.

Sounds like either the vacuum tubing or the vacuum diaphram in the petcock is going bad. Change the vacuum lines with some good fresh hose. Take the petcock completely apart and make sure it's clean. While you're at it, replace the fuel line and purchase a clear in-line filter. Then if that doesn't work hook a vacuum pump up to the vacuum line on the petcock, apply vacuum, and see if fuel flows. If you don't have a vacuum pump, you could try sucking on the hose, but whether you can generate enough vacuum or stand the ridicule from your friends remains to be seen.
If you get fuel flow w/ fresh hose and the pump, but not w/ the carb, then you've got some deeper issue (ie. bad rings, problems in the valves, etc. etc.)
Good luck.

Check the vacumn hose that goes to the fuel selector. It may have a leak. If that doesnt do it, just leave it in prime the whole time youre running, the needle valve will shut the fuel flow when the float bowl is full. And when youre done riding, turn it back to on.
