Yes another Jetting question. 440BIG BORE
#1
I have been searching through the forums for a few days now reading about jetting the 400. The consensus seems to be for a mainjet 160-175, and for a pilot 27 give or take. Now I haven't found anyone running quite the same setup as me, so I need some opinions about what I "should" running. I know every bike is different, but if I could get maybe a range, it would help the jetting process this weekend. The piped, filtered and airboxed croud seems to be running around the 160-165 area.
I'm running the following:
Weisco 440 Big bore
Hotcams Intake/Exhaust
Ported and Polished Head
DMC Alien Full Pipe
Dynajet Programmable CDI
Alba K&N adapter w/filter
Aluminum Airbox w/o lid (not yet installed) (Swishcheese stock now)
What do you guys think?
175/27 4th turn on needle for starters?? Bigger/Smaller??

Heh I am thinking that you might be a little rich with 175 but maybe not. Have you taken it out for a ride yet? Do you have a dyno near you? That would be my suggestion just because that is the best way to figure out jetting...

I live in an apartment in the ghetto, so I leave my trailer with my wheelers at a relatives house. Last weekend was the first time I have fired the bike since I got the engine back from Nmotion Industries. The thing sounded like it was running well, but the pipe was cherry red in about a minute. I know its running lean, but I havent gotten my jet kit yet. It should be here thursday evening. I know the pilot will have to be changed as well, hence ^^. Just want a good place to start. I would rather start rich than start lean where I already am.
Oh I agree about the dyno, although I haven't found one as of yet. I've even called automotive speed shops.
