DONT TELL ME ABOUT THE DAMN SPECS. i know what the specs are. im just asking if anyones raced them before. Tell me about low end power, mid, and high end power VS the 400EX please, because im gettin a new quad in a month, moving from 250's to 400's please hElPPPP

 

Hey. Ive raced my stock z400 vs a 02' 400ex with kn airfilter, lid off and a whitebros exhaust. He also had 22inch mudlites on the back and stock gearing or so he said. We raced in a gravel pit and I spun out way too much but was about 1 1/2 quad lengths behind off the line then I gained ground up to 1 quad length before we had to back off the gas and we had just shifted to fifth. I think if I had better traction I wouldve raped it cause I spun out hella lots. Mid range on the z is better and also top. However hondas new 400ex might be a diff story as it has revised gearing, reverse, etc. I think the z would still win by a bit.

 

I rode my nephews 04 400ex against my buddy on his boys 03 z400, I took him off the line up until I hit 4th gear then the z400 pulled on me and beat me by bike length. I also rode my nieces 400 kfx against the honda and the suzuki and smoked them both by a couple bike lengths.

 

The Z400 is considerably faster than the 400ex especially with the new 2005 mods.

 

teh z400 and the kfx 400 is the exact same thing...

 

the z400 nd 400ex are like the same speed when it comes to this its mostly rider.

 

Never said they weren't, I know Suzuki makes the KFX for Kawasaki. They are different colors though [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

(not trying to start any thing) I think the 400EX is obsolete. I also think the Z/KFX is just as reliable than the 400EX.
The Z/KFX is DOHC, water cooled, lighter , better looking and handling, faster and more power.

I vote Z.

 

z400 is the fastest 4 stroke quad from the 0-400cc class

 

I've pretty easily beaten all the 400ex's I've come up against. I raced a 440ex and he was right with me until about mid 3rd gear. My '05 is 100% stock, air lid and all.

The 03/04 z400s are not as quick as the '05s but I've heard they still beat the 400ex.

This is not a bash on the 400ex, they are very good machines. And they do IMO make a bit more low end torque than the z400. But once that '05 DOHC engine spools up into midrange forget it.
