KQ OTD price?
#1
Hey all....I've been an anonymous user for some time picking your brains via the Internet. I'm really interested in a Honda Rubicon or Suzuki King Quad. My riding conditions will be 99% trails, very limited mud/water, and basically unlimited funds (hope I dont sound facetious). Anyway, what should I expect for a retail or out-the-door price here in Western Washington? I think they retail for about $7200, but I'm just wondering what I can bargain them down to. Also, are the 2006 models out yet? I've had very good luck with all Honda products in the past (XR650L, Honda Pilot, 185s 3-wheeler, etc.), but the King Quad looks very appealing. Any comments about long-term reliability Vs. the Honda line? Also looked at the Honda Rincon, but was not impressed with only a 3 speed tranny and no locker (but maybe just fine for no mud or water?). Thanks for any imput you have.

I paid 5714.00 for mine...05 model. I had a Rincon ,and would not buy another. I have owned several ATV's and I like Suzuki's build quality.Honda builds good machines, but are yeaterdays newspaper when it comes to what you get for your buck..Honda is just overpriced! The Rincon cost me 7200.00 plus...I got Ind Reas Susp.,no low gear,no locking diff.,and most of all no disk brakes, last but not least no Fuel Injection, which is light years away from the Rincon...Some of Honda's products are good, like their Foreman...but its old hat when it comes to new tech.Just my comparison... I use my machines to trail ride and hunting,...I love the new King Quad!Rincons are having tranny problems too!

Amax-little input here except a price and a statement. I called dealers here in the St. Louis area and they said they wouldn't have an '06 KQ until Jan and some dealers, possibly on the coasts, will see them as early as Dec. Just last night my cousin bought a Rubicon ('05) in IL and paid $6800 otd. I thought that was a little expensive personally. He bought it because he is going to use it to work and trail ride. I have heard great things about the transmission on a Rubi but I am not considering it......no efi, irs, locker, disc brakes.....he also made a comment to me about the size of the BIG utes and handling them on the tight trails. He made a point and so I went and looked (again) at all the sizes of the Rin vs Vinson vs Rubi vs KQ and they are all VERY CLOSE. I have also heard about many folks around here that bought their '05 KQ's for the low $6's and with everything you get vs the Honda it will be a tough decision not to go with Suzuki. We will see. Good luck to you!

I'm trying to keep an open mind and look at all makes and models. I've looked at the Grizzly (nice looking machine), Vinson, Brute Force, Prairie, much of the Polaris line, etc. I have not looked at any Bombardier or Arctic Cats (not a dealer in close proximity). I personally was not impressed by the fit-and-finish of the Polaris line compared to the other makes.

Im another PAST Rincon owner and now a KQ owner..I have to tell you that there is nothing I miss about my Rincon..The KQ does everything easier and has far more features, and to add to that,it has a LOWER MSRP..

So I went by the dealer today, told me retail on the '06 KQ with a winch installed is $8500 OTD. That was a little more than I was bargaining for. I was hoping to be OTD for under $7K, but they're selling them so fast here in WA I don't know how much I can bargain. I know they'll come down some, I guess I'll just have to work at it. Does that sound like I'm getting ripped off?

I don't live in WA or the west coast but $8500? That is what a new Outlander 800 costs! The only thing I do know is people around here in St. Louis have bought '05 KQ's for the low to mid $6's and with color choices and black rims being about the only change.....I would expect to pay a little more but def NOT over msrp. Maybe I am just oblivious to what goes on out on the coasts.......then again I really don't live in the middle of nowhere.....St. Louis is the 13th largest city. Just my 2 cents. Can't wait to see what other WA KQ owners say.

Sounds like that WA OTD is MSRP, plus taxes, freight, set-up, documentation fees, etc, etc, etc. AND, add on the price of the winch, with installation charge. Too much!!!
Sounds about like the $10,700 OTD I was quoted a month or so ago for a new Bomb Outlander 800 HO XT...
FYI, Pro Cycle in MO is advertising new 2006 KQ's on their website for $6K. I am not sure what extra fees they charge above and beyond that, but I bet you could get one there for less than $7K when all said and done. Of course, they don't have any in stock, yet. It is where I'll be looking come right around the turn of the year though.
