tires for Z400
#12
22" Holeshot xct in rear
23" Holeshot xct in front
The xcts are 6 ply also, but lighter than the hd. I've also heard from most people that have ever had both, that they prefer the holeshots to the razrs. That's part of the reason I got them. You'll want them in the sizes I mentioned for added ground clearance. Also go one down on front sprocket and one up on rear sprocket.
XCT are designed for trail, XCR for race. XCRs are lighter, but the sidewalls aren't as strong and you'd be more likely to get a "snakebite" on the trail. (It's when you get a cut in sidewall from getting piched between rim and a rock.)

why do you say that about the side wall of the xcr's. they are also rated as a 6 ply tire. i have a set and the side walls are pretty stiff. they are more for like gnc type riding, but never heard that about sidewall. you maybe right, just never heard that. xct's are heavy though, like you said change sprocket and you'll be all right. if you stay with the stock size(20-10-9) one tooth down in the front will give you alot more torq on bottom, you'll lose alittle off the top , but it's worth it. best mod for money($12)!!!

I believe XCRs are 6 ply tread, but 4 ply sidewall. They also are not available in the sizes I specified. So, no benefit of additional ground clearance. I'm not knockin XCRs or anything, I just think they are better for what they were designed for (Race hence the R) and XCTs are better for what they were designed for (Trails hence the T)

true, i believe that. i just never heard about the sidewall. the one reason i went with the 6ply is because i ride in some pretty rocky places and hated to end up with a flat in the middle of bfe. stock tires are what? 2 ply, so i just wanted some insurance. i hope i don't end up with a (snakebite) because that will really **** me off. xcr's only come in a 20-10-9 and 20-10-10 i think. holeshots are hard to beat!! i'll stay with them.
