ok im looking to buy one of these in the spring and i dont know which is better for everything. i would ride around my house alot i have some open fields and a gravel pit which is a blast to ride at! and also at the sand dunes. i want to know which has better handling, power and suspention. and also which would win in a flat drag.

 

The are both awesome quads, for the suspension the z seems to have better set up and the power is almost egual....I would say go out and get a feel for wich one u want.

 

I agree they are both awesome. I have A Z400 and my son-in-law has A honda 400 Ex. About the same as far as speed & power. However the suspension on the Z I feel is better.

 

i had to make the same decision 6 mon ths ago. i got the z and love it. between liquid cooling and the DOHC and better suspension you have to go with the Z. Trust me you wont be dissapointed

 

Yup, Z. It just has a bit of an edge over the EX in quite a few categories, and it has more potential with mods as well. Nothing wrong with the EX except Honda dealers tend to be very proud of that model for some reason.
