Default '02 LT-A50 leaking fuel

I just bought a used '02 Lt-A50 for my sons. I noticed that when it idles it leaks gas from the drain tube connected to the carb. Is this normal? I haven't owned a 2-stroke for a long time. Is it just unused fuel that is not being burned? Any info. would be greatly appreciated. BTW Where could I buy a couple new front rims for this quad?

I did the same thing and suspect it was the unusual "PRI - ON - PRI" fuel valve. The normal setting is in the middle, and there is no "Off" setting at all. Instead, the "PRI" settings (which means "prime") permit fuel to flow without restriction into the carb whether the engine is running or not. If you happen to set the valve to either of those PRI positions, you could easily get an overflow condition that would drain out of that tube. In my case, I made sure the valve was not on PRI and drained the carb bowl, and haven't seen a leak since.

Just exactly why the PRI setting is SO important that we have two of them, and no Off position, escapes me.
