I ride this quad a lot. I have about 600 miles on it so far and everything is great. The last time I took it out (last weekend), it backfired coming down a hill (throttle off). Then it did it 3 more times later in the day.


Any one else have this or is there something I should check? I'm not a mechanic. I'm an alien... lol (it really was the best avatar they had...)

 

Mine backfired after the first 100 miles or so quite a few times, and they were very loud backfires so I took it to my dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong said they were going to ride it around more to try and hear the backfire...I said I'd be there to pick it up wasn't gonna let them dog it around.
But I really think it could have been some bad gas because it didn't seem to accelerate during that time period of the backfires. It has backfired may 2 times since then, I have 850 miles now. If yours keeps backfiring you could ask your dealer to take a look at it..but it's probably just some bad gas.

 

Mine is doing it too. Most of the time after a blip of the throttle, you know when you floor it for a second ? Looks like the 1 cyl. engine can't burnt all the full and the rest burn in the exaust system. I'm not concern at all.

 

Try fresh high test gas and a new spark plug. Gas quality lately has been pretty sorry.
