Guys like this are why I'll never ride red, that and the fact that they feel tiny to most people over 6'. Hondas are nice machines and yes they did dominate the track but unfortunately they have also spawned a herd of know-it-alls that think because they have the same quad as their hero that they are the ultimate authority in ATV's. Regardless of how many people disputed your fuzzy memory with actual facts you can't come to grips with the truth. Oh wait, I forgot all your magazine data, cause everybody knows that a magazine would never skew a test toward the company that purchased the most ads.
whatever. and i wasnt going to respond again until some...um....person... had to go and do this.....this is why i dont visit the suzuki forum very often. No nice debating here. If i was wrong, i admit it until this happens. WWIII. You want to personally launch an attack on me? Im not some know it all with a fuzzy memory. Thats offensive. You have no idea about my background and you want to get into attack mode with ME? LOL. I would be confident to say that SEVERAL THOUSAND people agree that the TRX is superior in every facet...Not my 'fuzzy memory' or the mags...Dude the living legend, gary denton said it. If the LT was so much better, then WHY DIDNT the aftermarket JUMP ON IT like they did the 250R? I'll tell you why, and this is cruel, and i wasnt going to say it quite this harsh, but YOU CANT POLISH A TURD. Nice bike, but its a turd compared to the trx and not even in the same league.

Ive been around every form of atv all makes, models, etc for probrably longer than you have been alive. you were probrably a sperm (techinically not but you get my point) still swimming in your daddys sac when i was out riding up the dunes and ripping on quads....

YOU are the ones that are overzealous about an over-rated quad. You suzuki guys cant get over the fact that the hondas are better in every form and dominated every catagory of racing and the excuse is b/c "suzuki stopped development in 87." That's ridiculous and it looks like they lost faith in ther OWN product and ran home with their tail between their legs. Plain and simple. Thats what the real facts are. You also forget that the mags were not hyped then as they are now and back then they reported the facts. I'll school you anytime with my 86 TRXR.

And to sblt or whatever your name is, i did read your 'explaination' and i do know that a 4stroke weighs more than a two stroke, BUT did you know that the crf engines dont weigh that much more than the crs? thats on the honda website, you know the Red Army...The manufacturer everybody seems to compare their machines to whether they like it or not. what my point was - we are way more advanced today and I dont care if i **** you or anyone off or not by asking...."why?" and "how?" There is always room for improvement and I will never apologize for it either.

As far as the weight questions goes, why dont you scan that image onto your pics from your owners manual? i still dont believe it. Theres no way it weighed 30lbs less than a honda, if it did then it should be noticeably faster and not "dead even," as earlier posted. Unless, it was just too underpowered to let another equally sized, 30lb heavier machine beat it.

But i see no one addressed the fact that you still see more hondas around than the suzukis, huh? care to take that one? Did I stir the pot too much? If i did, i dont care. You dont come here and personally attack me...we are all here to learn and at times re-learn. I give credit where it is due and if the new LT beats the new R, it is the new king and i'll admit it. I dont tolerate personal attacks and dont think anyone of you really intended it for harm, but dont cross that line again.

Did a little digging and I must admit I was wrong, it was actually 293 lbs. Take a look at my pics and look closely at the last one(might be pending approval for a little while).

i believe the 293 figure is correct for the 1985-86 model years

the '87 was 327lbs

and '88 was 324lbs (all from memory,,,so could be off)

just my .02cents

It's a little fuzzy, but the print does read.... "light vehicle weight (293 lbs)"

Keeping this thread on topic is a grand idea

Sorry, 150 kb does not allow for much resolution. I can rescan just that area of the page if anybody still has doubts.

u think u could get some pics of it for me? i'm looking for an LT250R, but not sure which year. there's a guy here that has a '85 quadracer 250, but it's all stock with a new top end. Is there anythink i can do to your '85 to make it fast? I'm either gonna buy an LT cuz they're light, or a 'shee cuz the power, but they're pretty heavy tho.
