Great charts, JustRandy! It's nice visually to see where the modded 230 will be compared to other "known" quads. I lived in Maine until I joined the Air Force and even then the biggest problem as far as "Maniacs" were concerned was the "transplants". People from Massachussettes, Conneticut, Vermont and other New England states that came from the "well to do areas" and wanted to get away from the rat race so would "transplant" to Maine and then get involved in the local/state level goverment and start screwing everything up.

Like I remember my dad was friggin pissed because our taxes were going up because the "transplants" wanted to build a tennis court in our little town. He was like "what the f#@k am I going to do with a tennis court?". But it passed and taxes went up. Just one small example of many, these people supposedly leave these places to get away from it all and then they bring it with them and screw everything up for the locals whom live there all their lives like my parents.</end quote></div>

Everybody moving to a free state to be free and then complaining there aren't enough laws to protect them would be nonsense. Move to NY, lol. I was reading about NH and someone apparently set up an account for people who feel they should pay more taxes. "We realize there are those of you that voted for more taxes... and... who are we to deny you your rights as a citizen? If you feel you would like to pay more in taxes, please make your check out to blah blah and send it in." Democracy in action.

Why didn't everybody who wanted a tennis court just get together and buy a tennis court and have the bill sent to them? If they tried that around here I would say "well, I want a MX track" and a few other things. I'll never use a tennis court, even though I do have all the equipment, I play about twice every decade. As a kid I spent most of my time riding my bike on the tennis court, rather than playing tennis. Like George Carlin said, "tennis is not a sport, its just ping pong with bigger rackets while standing on the table".

Btw, I was once considering a move to the Pine Tree Capital. Not sure why I shyed away from that.

Here is a link that says colorado is the free-est place to live http://forum.freestateproject....ndex.php?topic=13974.0 It puts GA #9 too. Not so sure that's where I'd put it. What do you think about colorado?

Agreed, same thing here. San Francisco/Berkley/Bay area transplants move here with their big money to "get away" then try make this area more like where they moved from! All the rice fields we used to hunt duck and geese are sold out. Have thousands of 4000+ sq ft houses right next to each other. starbucks every 100ft! Yuck!</end quote></div>

Probably will have that problem everywhere you go unless you decide to set up camp in antarctica. The land next to me was for sale (20 acres) and they've split it up for a small subdivision right before it was auctioned off. In a few yrs I'm sure I'll have a thriving little community of illegals living right next door with their chickens waking me up in the morning and carnival music blasting all day n night as they drive to and fro. Not to mention each one will almost certainly have 20 kids who like to come trespassing over here playing in the woods. So, I'm planning my escape now. Its the american way. The indians had it made for a long time here before big money moved it and took over. How does it go, Veni, Verdi, Vinci... I came, I saw, I conquered! One day star bucks will rule the world, bwa hahahaha!

I really haven't ridden any other quads except the 230 (mine). But I have briefly ridden my father-in-laws Grizzly 660 and my brother-in-laws Eiger 400. They have their place but for straight out fun trail riding no thank you. I like the 230's versatility especailly on the trail because of it's ride o' bility and manuverability. Not long ago I took it by myself to a place called Woodland Park, because it was a week day and I was on my crew break so I was by myself. I was flying up a trail and saw an offshoot to my left a very large rocky, rutted extreme angled hill and I didn't even hesitate I kicked it into 2nd and full throttle. I got about 3/4 of the way up and the ground was nothing but needles and leaves with very deep soft loam under that. I had to go off the trail to the right slightly because of a huge rut about 3 foot deep and when I did I started loosing traction with the leaves, needles and soft loam.

When I started slightly sliding backwards I felt a sickening feeling that this was going to hurt. When I looked behind me I saw a cliff that was about a 25 foot drop so I jumped off on the low side of the quad and turned the handle bars to try and get the angle sideways to the hill. So the quad and I were slowly sliding down the hill sideways towards this cliff. There was no way I was going to lose my quad over that cliff or as far as I was concerned I would go with it. I changed position as quickly as possible and got to the front of the quad and dug in my heals and used the front bumper and pulled back with everything I had. The quad and I stopped sliding for the moment. Now I'm stuck because I have to pull this quad at an extreme angle on this hill with nothing but needles, leaves and loam back over to the harder rutted section while it keeps with me slipping further down the hill towards the cliff.

My whole point being any bigger CC quad/heavier and it would have been lost, it took me 45 minutes off swearing, sweating and light headed from the lack of oxygen to get it back to the rutted section and pointed back down hill but I did it.</end quote></div>

Yep. My bud has a 700 KQ and he did something just like you described. He jumped off to the left I think and held the bars with both hands and tried to back it down the hill while the 2 front wheel were still in the air. He tripped and fell backwards. His elbow hit the ground (and his head of course) and he still had hold of the handlebars. The weight of the machine nearly sheared his thumb off his right hand. (the thumb didn't come completely off, but it broke the bones pretty good). Cost $20,000 to fix his hand. Next time he said F$%K the quad, I'm not hanging on. LOL

Hmm yeah I would have to disagree with that list. Gun laws are pretty good here, you can carry a firearm openly as long as you don't enter federal facilities, schools, etc. things common sense dictates. You can get a concealed weapons permit easy enough, in my case basically $120.00 and proof military service. Hunting is done by zones, in other words you buy a hunting license for lets say zone 20 and that is where you hunt. That was completely foreign to me. My first 7 years in the Air ForceI was overseas so didn't hunt but when I arrived in Colorado I was shocked because in Maine I walked out into my back yard into the woods and hunted on public land.
ATV laws are on par it would seem with most states, you have to register it to ride in parks and public lands. local traffic and DUI laws are on par with other states as well. Your required to have car insurance. There is state tax. You can't purchase any alchohol over 3.2% on Sundays (Thank God for Class 6 on Military bases:beer. I really am not sure why it was listed a #1 free'st state, I would place it maybe in the teens on that list.

Maybe because of Trinidad dubbed "The sex change capital of the world", lol. Overall Colorado is a conservative western state so I really am not sure why it would be ahead of New Hampshire, much less #1 on that particular list.

You guys must have a lot of tax breaks then... all I can figure... That and marajuana laws are less restrictive there than other places. I read somewhere that a colorado judge stepped down in protest of a proposed law that would increase the fines and add jail time to anyone in possession of MJ. The bill was shelved. Of course the judge is still out of a job I would think.

Ha! Cali is 47!!!!! No wonder I almost got a damn ticket for "smoking in public"!!!
Snowballed when I told him to go f^@k himself.. AND I have a concealed carry license, happened to be carrying that day.......... Cops tend to get twitchy when a citizen has a weapon!! Looking back, it was like a bad COPS episode!

In cali, you can carry as long as the gun is unloaded, right?

Its a wonder they didn't throw you to the ground with a dozen rifles aimed at you and a helicopter flying around on CNN.
