NICE!! I am glad to here everyone is still there. Thanks for the replies. I just can't wait to get this 230 now. It is all of a sudden exciting me. I will enjoy cleaning these parts, knowing my work goes to a buyer who needs something to keep theres going. I will pay some detail to cleaning this one up. I will sort through what you all need before I spend some time cleaning up what will be for sale. I still need some time cleaning up the businesses loose ends. I might post a bike I have on my home e-bay so that I can get funds to pay off e-bay and a certain dispute I have. this is a kx bike I will be doing that with. then I will start fresh with a clean 230 and a couple 300ex bikes i am lookin at and set aside.

Hello i was wondering if any one had a case for and lt250s. i have a big brother to the 230 its an awsome quad didn't run when we got it (it was free) it was a mess. some new oil and filter, carb cleaning, spark plug and clutch cable and a pull start she runs like a dream. we just need a case we patched it the best we could but its only a temp fix.</end quote></div>
I wish I had a 250s! Those parts can be pretty hard to find, since they only made them 2 yrs. Which case part do you need? The 230 one might work.

I went off on a tangent with that Lakota. I used up about a week trying to get a new carb fitted and tuned up for it. Good practice is the way I look at it.... Getting ready for the 230/32mm carb combo. That's gonna be fun.
That Lakota hauls its 450lb *** around pretty well. Its the perfect "girls quad". It won't pop a wheelie even if you hit a small ramp! Pretty stable, but has enough power to bring the front wheels up about 6 inches when accelerating. It jumps level n doesn't nose dive or get out of control. And of course, you can do donuts all day long,,, even at 30, 40 mph with a feeling of comfort and security.
The thing is built like a tank. Swingarm and a-arms are big n beefy. I can't find any play in them and the quad is 10yrs old! The crank is probably the biggest crank ever made for a 1/4 liter engine. That and the rod size make the Lakota a really hard engine to blow up!
The Lakota is definitely a quad that has a place in the sport of atving. Probably one of the "safest" quads ever made.
I'll be working on a Warrior next... So, be on the lookout for a review.

I'm not sure where you got that serial number, but what you need is the 10th digit of the VIN. The VIN is located on the left side at the bottom of the frame... Not far from the a-arm bearing. Wipe the dirt n grease off and count over 10 digits. Then post it back here.
I don't know how water would have gotten in your head, but its not uncommon to find oil up there. The rods and piston rings wear out and let oil pool up on top of the piston. You could bore it and install a wiseco piston.... All around $250. Then ride it n have fun until the piston wears out again (which it will because the rod is bad). Or, you can pop the crank out and put a new rod on for another $130. Then put the wiseco in and bore it. Its a fun quad when everything works!
You also have to take into account how everything else on the quad looks. The swingarm bearings are weak. Usually they are bad and the swingarm flops around. Then the chain comes off and smashes the magneto cover.
Another known issue is the steering stem breaks off. Check to see if yours has been welded. If not, better weld it or keep a sharp eye on it. It can come off right in your hands while riding!
If the whole quad is just a pile of junk, then part it out on ebay. But if it looks like it has potential, fix it up. They are neat little machines! There are lots of parts available for it on ebay and aftermarket. You could get a big bore kit still too.

One of the females I ride with has a lakota. They are tough. I think the same with this moto 4 (which does have a bigger crank) this thing is almost indestructable. shaft drive is about the most solid assembly I have seen yet. I am takin it out this weekend as well as the 230 I am getting. My quad sits in the garage this weekend. I hope she doesn't get jeoulous lol. I almost bought one of them old 90's for e-bay, but the guy wanted to much becuase it ran so well. He ended up selling it for 550. nice little bike.

The Lakota engine is straight out of the Bayou 300. Its a hog! The only difference is the chain drive (and maybe the cam). I don't know much about the Moto-4. I've only seen them in mags, never in person.
We dry-fitted the 38mm carb on the Warrior. It fits, but may have to do some gas tank mods. That quad should be a force to be rekoned with when we get done. Can't wait to see which is faster... The Warrior or the 230 with the 260 kit and extensive engine mods. 258cc per 315lbs vs 348cc per 415lbs. Hmmm... 90cc bigger and 100lbs heavier... Might get outrun on the straight-aways, but there are no straight-aways in the mountains!

straight aways are for chump riders with ridiculous quads. I.E. fuel injection. Just one more thing to mantain that could fail. good response though don't get me wrong. I think that randy and I have a question on that quad you picked up harley, I thought you meant 80 or 90 cc and I think randy was thinking of year. The old one I was referring to was a 125cc an 88 lt125 I believe it was. little brute it was with an easy pullstart that was well built, unlike some pullstarts that can't take the compression of the motor they are mounted to. let us know what you got and we are usually glad to help.
Isn't the tranny on a 250 the same. My buddy got one last spring and sold it before he finished working out the bugs. I got a good look at it once and believe that it is the same tranny different everything else though.
