Its a 05 and i wouldnt think the magnesium cover issue would have anything to do with this but shortly after i heard about it it quit running.Its pretty cold up here now but only like in the 30 s now so it should start because my buddies 400 ex will start right away.It has spark and is getting fuel but just wont fire?I cant really figure it out.It shouldnt be the jetting because when it last ran it was snowing and cold and ran fine when warm but did start hard.Any info greatly apprecciated.thanks

 

is it trying to turn over??? maybe the choke is stuck

try to see if the choke is stuck or put it on PRI or RES..is it turning over at all??

 

If you have spark and fuel...all thats missing is compression. Have you checked the valve clearance lately? My bet is the intake clearance is too tight.

 

So what is the procedure for adjusting the valves?

 

sounds like you need to clean the carb, an 05 shouldnt be having top end problems unless its been beat to hell and back, valve might need adjusting and if you have never done it I suggest you have somebody do it for you , and you might have some water in it, so if you have spark and fuel going into the carb doesnt mean you dont have a plugged jet, clean the carb

 

I did clean the carbs. That wasn't it. I have not adjusted the valves yet... I know, dumb, but anyways, they were way off so I hope that'll fix it.
