cold weather starter on 87 quadsport 230
I was on my 203 in december and i was having a difficult time kick starting it. my friends dad said that there was a cold weather starter knob and he showed me it. it doesnt say anything about it in the book and it doesnt seem to do much of anything. it is a black knob coming ou5 of the carb i believe. is it really a cold weather starter?

Its been sometime since I used a stock carb. But if memory serves the knob is for elevation. If you will be riding in an area X amount above sea level, I cant remember the exact number, then the knob should be pulled out.
Leave the knob in, choke the carb, kick it over 2 or 3 times with the ignition off. Take the choke off, turn the ignition on, 1 or 2 kicks, and it should fire up in even the coldest weather. Just dont get carried away and flood it. Good luck. |
