cold weather starter on 87 quadsport 230

Default cold weather starter on 87 quadsport 230

I was on my 203 in december and i was having a difficult time kick starting it. my friends dad said that there was a cold weather starter **** and he showed me it. it doesnt say anything about it in the book and it doesnt seem to do much of anything. it is a black **** coming ou5 of the carb i believe. is it really a cold weather starter?

that **** is part of the choke u ride with the choke up and when u start it the choke should be down then b4 u take off u have 2 pull that **** and put the choke up an then push the **** back in its the weirdest set up ive ever seen

Its been sometime since I used a stock carb. But if memory serves the **** is for elevation. If you will be riding in an area X amount above sea level, I cant remember the exact number, then the **** should be pulled out.

Leave the **** in, choke the carb, kick it over 2 or 3 times with the ignition off. Take the choke off, turn the ignition on, 1 or 2 kicks, and it should fire up in even the coldest weather. Just dont get carried away and flood it.
