Id start with a new plug too.
If you open the drain on the bottom of the float bowl...does gas come out? You pulled the spark plug out, hooked up the wire, and held the spark plug to the motor, cranked, and saw spark?

If you have spark and it ran for 10 seconds it sounds like a fuel problem.
When you pulled the pulg was it wet?
Did you pull the plug again after you tried to start it again?
How long was it sitting?
Is the gas turned on?
Squirt some starting fluid in the air box to see if it will start.
Could there be water in the tank? Consensation normaly isn't a problem but water could have gotten in some how.
I'd start with the starting fluid. If it pops move on to the carb.
