Default '05 KingQuad Stock Tire Question...

How much does the front and rear (stock) tires weigh without the wheel? I am looking into getting some ITP Mud Lites and wanted to compare the weight. I know the 25x8-12 Mud Lite is 15.1 lbs and the 25x10-12 is 19.5 lbs as this is what the web site stated. Thanks in advance. David.

You may be tired of hearing from me and many people will argue this, but I think you should give the Supergrip Superlight a look. They have the EXACT same tread as the ITP, but they are tougher because the rubber compound is harder, they are supposed to weigh the same as a Mudlite, and they are cheaper.

RedGoblin, I am in no way tired of hearing from you. You seem to know your stuff and I really appreciate you and the others who have been quick to share their knowledge. Thanks.

As far as tires go, I would like to get some decent tires with some moderate grip. However, I don't want heavy tires. I want to keep them as light as possible. I was wanting to know the weight of the stock tires so I could have a figure to base the other tires off of. I am aware of the SuperGrip SuperLites on ebay. They look exactly the same as you said. They have a whole thread on these tires on the NYROC forum. I have heard of a set of 4 going for as low as $175 shipped. I may try to go with these and offer him a low price for an Air Force Member!

Yeah, don't just hit the buy-it-now, definitely offer him a price. I got 26" on ITP Type 6 Rims for $575. They came the day immediately following the payment from the credit card going through, so no gripes with shipping. The only complaint I could have possibly had is he forgot my center caps. I've contacted him about it and he said they'll be shipped out tomorrow, which really isn't a big deal right now because the King is in the shop so I can't put the tires on anyway. I'll be checking this thread, but in case I forget, please let me know if you get the weight of the stockers. If you don't by the time I swap out, I'll weigh them and let you know.

If I get the weight of the stockers, I'll let you know. I sent an email yesterday to the ebay guy to get the weight of the SG SuperLites. Thanks again RedGoblin. David.

Oh, please let me know if you get that information as well. I weighed them today, but not on what anyone would consider a quality scale and the weights were kind of strange, so keep me posted on that too if you would.

I was told on NYROC that the stock fronts were about 12-13 lbs a piece and the rears about 17 lbs. Two ply and very little tread contribute greatly to their light weight. We will see when you take yours off. I am curious to see exactly how similiar in weight the SG SuperLites are to the MudLites.

You should help me out in bugging the crap out of my dealer to get the King done! No, but seriously I am anticipating it's completion tomorrow afternoon and will give them a call to see if I can go get it, which coincedentally will mean that I will have the weights for you either tomorrow or Thursday, depending on how quick my dealership gets this done. The scale I have here is just a common bathroom scale and not at all what I would want someone giving me tire weights from if I was the one in need of the information. I promise I'll let you know as soon as I can. Sorry for the delay.
