Vinson belt change
#1
I have two Vinsons and figure it is about time to change the transmission belts on them. How hard is this? If one has experience changing belts on snowmobiles will the ATVs be similar? Are there any special tools required to change them? Any tips and advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

I wish that I could help you, but I only have 10 hours on mine. Sorry...
I am wondering though, that if there were that much belt dust, then maybe the belt is worn to the point that the rough shifting is happening. The belt would be narrower from the fricton of the clutches, that cause the belt dust.

We have not pulled the cover yet to look at it. We have been riding down on the Arizona Strip, which has been VERY dusty. We were told by a mechanic that it could be dust which got into the housing. Not sure if it is belt dust or dirt dust. I hate to tear into it until I know a bit about the process, but don't want to ride it in case it is the belt going bad. Nothing worse than being 50 miles from camp and the belt going out!!
