Default Z250 Ignition conversion PLEASE help!

Anyone out there know what I could do to raise the rev limiter on a 2004 Z250? No one makes a rev box for this bike yet. I have alot of mods done to this thing and it stays on the limiter. I have been considering adapting another rev box off of another bike. Has anyone else done this or know someone who has? someone please help!

Some people don't want to move up and change quads. Sometimes, it is better to stay with the smaller, lighter weight quad and continue to modify it.

I am in the same boat as LTZGUY. I too am looking for some way to increase the rev limiter on my Ozark (same motor as the Z250) because of a modification I am about to do.

I am right there with you guys... I like my quad, and I dont want to move up. It is neat making a slower quad go fast

I didnt mean it as a put down, and im sorry if i offended anyone. Theres a reason the rev limiter is on it, and its to keep damage from overrevving from happening.
If you need to go faster, the cheapest route is to trade up to a bigger machine.
If it were a chain and sproket machine, you could change the gearing, but because its got a rear differential, thats not gonna happen, unless you try bigger diameter tires.
You may be at the practicle limit of whats posible.

Why move up to a Z400 when I can run with one with 250cc??? I like my bike and I don't want to buy another just yet. I like to see the expression on peoples faces with they get whipped by a 250. So far this is what I have out ran with the limiter slowing me down,
300ex with pipe, filter and jet kit
500 honda forman
2 350 warriors
yamaha 450 something
I get beat about 2-3 bikes by a 660 raptor before I ported the head and put a header on it. Not saying i can beat one....yet. I do have more up my sleeve.
This is the difference in stock I found out today....I raced a stock 500 forman when mine was stock, he beat me by 1/2 bike length. Today after the cam, ported head, jet kit, and header I beat him so bad it wasn't even a race....his topped out at 55mph and it went by him like he was barely moving. Hard to say but an estimated 20+ bike lengths. He said mine prolly doin about 60 on the rev limiter hard in 5th gear. Motor has way more power to spare if it could rev higher. temporary solution I'm gonna put some 22" holesots on until i can get rid of the limiter. I'd rather polish a turd than get on the same boat as everyone else, in other words it easy to make a z400 fast and everyone expects it to be fast. If you have a z400 and another guy outruns you on another z400 cause he has a few more things done to his it doesn't really bother you much right? You know you can do a few things more to yours and be right there with him....but you get be by a z250 and your head will be hurtin....and I still have less than $3600 total bike and mods....how much is a z400????$5500

I'm right there with you Z250GUY.

We aren't looking for another 3,000 rpm out of the motor, just another 1,000 to 2,000 would make a big differance. I see aftermarket CDI boxes raising the rev limiter that much all the time on differant bikes.

For me, when I go into a mud hole in 1st, I'm bouncing off of the rev limiter once the quad gets moving whereas if I shift into 2nd, the quad usually bogs down. I've already upgraded to 25" Super Swampers so I can't go any bigger.

If you get that Z400 carb working, can I have first dibs on your Z250 carb?

i'll have to see if it works fine (the carb) first and see if my mileage gets worse. ?If everything works out ok then i'll get rid of it. I still want to sell my yoshi slip on cause I want to get a carbon fiber slip on and add a few things carbon fiber. I love the way my yoshi sounds but I really want some carbon fiber pieces. I might put it on ebay.
