Eiger electrical problem
#1
I'm having problems with my 2005 Eiger...it is only 6 months old and I thought I had a bad battery because it would not hold a charge. I purchased a new battery, but the problem is still there. It will start if it's hooked up to jumper cables or a charger and will stay running. If it stays running for a while I can shut it off and it will start right back up, but if it sits for more than 30 minutes it won't start again on its own. I assume that something somewhere is draining the battery, but I have no other accessories on the bike.
Any help would be apprieciated.

I would suggest that the problem could be 1 of 3 things which are, bad batteries, something draining the battery, or your charging system is not operating properly. This assumes that all connections (and grounds) are good.
#1 Have your battery properly tested, possibly where you bought the new battery.
#2 With a fully charged battery and the key removed from the ignition, disconnect the negative battery cable. Use a test light between the negative battery cable and the negative post of the battery. The test light should not light. If it does, something is draining the battery.
#3 With a fully charged battery (and everything hooked up properly), use a volt meter to see what the battery voltage is reading (approximately 12 volts). Now start the atv. With it running at higher rpms, test battery voltage again. It should now read approximately 13 to 14 volts.
Once you get these results, let us know what they are.
