The people who say that blackwater tires arent usually who actually have them, all they keep saying they "hear" about them. Ive run them on my 3 wheeler with super results. They turned that machine into a mud machine. Now after xmas ill be shoppin for the blackwaters for my kinq. The guys I ride with all ride 4x4's and I didnt have too much trouble keepin up with them. The times that I had any traction trouble was when i high centered it, and you will have that with any machine. All my buds are supprised with the performance of my atc after i installed them. ont count out these tires before you actually use them.

the kq has plenty of power to pull 26" vamps. but you can only put 26's in the rear and 25's in the front. i know for a fact though that it can defintally pull them.

Whatever you get dont go any bigger then stock. I dont care what anyone says the KQ can't pull bigger tires then stock. Heck it barely pulls the ones it came with when the mud gets sticky. You'll run out of power on hills too.

Archer, that partially is why I'm planning on buying the wheels and tires. If need be, I plan to put the stock wheels and tires back on for snow and ice. But as I said, I can't get over the prices... Still have sticker shock! Think I'll give it 'til after Christmas. I may get used to the idea...

Rkelman is correct,do not increase the height of the Kinqs tires, you'll be sorry. Its ok to increse the width though.

Robh,
If Blackwater tires are so damn good in the mud, than why dont you EVER see them in the mud tire shootouts?Put them on your King if you want, but there are way better mud tires out there than Blackwaters, just ask the guys at my local riding area that have run them against my Mudrunners? They certainly are FAR from being one of the best mud tires,
Bill

Well Bill, I dont have an answer for your tire shoot out ? cause I think Ive only seen one article on the subject in the past year. I dont get every issue of dirt wheels and atv mag, so maybe I missed a write up here and there. But I will give you this the one article which was in dirt wheels nov issue, and guees what? Mud runners was one of the tires that was compaired. So does that make the mud runner tire any less of a tire?? I dont think so. What I said is that the blackwater tires really turned my atc around. I dont have any other tires to compaire that to. So you really could be rite. Anyways I dont really meen to make this sounds as bad as im about to, but why is it if the goodtear mudrunner tires are so great then why dont alot of the MAJOR atv part catalogs sell them? Im asking this in reference to the (IMO) 2 largest dealers in mind. Now im sure they are a great tire, IM really not to be dumping on them, I just know Ive not really read to much about them myself. Now as far as the article Im refering to they seem to have liked the best out of the 3 tires they tested. And as far as i know maybe Itp didnt give them any tires to test I dont really know why they havent done a rite up on them. Now again I have missed some issues on DW and atv mag. I would really like to see the tires you run in action, are you going to cockerton this year, If so id like to hook up and see that sportsman in action. Btw you did say and i quote:"[DONT beleive EVERYTHING you read in magazins]If I cant talk you into a great snow/mud tire, than it sounds like Blackwaters to me," So if im readin you rite You dont really belive the backwaters are all that bad. Thats just what i got out of it.Im really lookin in to the 589/489 tire combo for my king. Oh btw I got one more ? for ya Bill, why is it when you look at the big wheel kits which tire is included theses kits??? Ill give ya one hint(it aint any goodyear tire) Ill be lookin for your reply.

ROBH,
Well you and I are close enough to each other that I dont think we need to go all the way to Cochran for you to see my Xplorer in action. You and your KQ have an open invite to come to Michigan for a wk end of riding,Id be very pleased to show you the differance between Blackwaters and Mudrunners, and you can even lodge at my house for free.Actually in the worst of snow and mud, there is NO comparing these two tires.

Do you even know what Mudrunners look like?My guess is NO,otherwise we would'nt be having this conversation.

I think that the Blackwaters are a good all around tire, but for the price, there are MUCH better, more agressive tires than the Blackwaters. Why do they advertise them with big wheel kits?Simple, they signed an agreement contract with the big wheel kit companys, heck, some no name tire company could of done that,it certainly means NOTHING about the agreesive nature of Blackwaters vs other Mud tires.

I have no doubt that the Blackwaters turned your atv into alot better mudder vs stock tires,im not desputing that. You made mention earlier of people knocking the Blackwater tires and that they dont own them.Well I have seen them in action probably 10 or more times in the last 2 yrs,and guess what, everyone who ran against me in the harsher stuff agreed, the Mudrunners gave the superiour traction in the worst conditions of mud/snow vs the Blackwaters.

What im really trying to say is that if you own a 4x4 quad, you should perceive the best possible tire that gives the best possible traction and ride, the Blackwaters are far from that. They do everything good, but nothing the best.

As for the magizines?Never beleive everything you read,ESPECIALLY in DUMB wheels.Honda is one of their sponsers,so take one guess on who wins the most ATV shoot outs?HONDA,[thats a no brainer]Dirt wheels has to be on the side of its sponsers most of the time,or they could lose them as sponsers.Anyways, thats why I tell you not to beleive everything you read in these atv MAGS.

If your happy with the Blackwaters,by all means, stick with them.Thats all that counts,

HAPPY TRAILIN,
Bill

will bill that sounds inviting, ill have to entertain the idea of coming up there somtime. I suppose from your answer that your not coming to cochranton? You should consider it if youve never been there before. Anyways you could be rite on the mud runners being the better tire. Most of the guys i run with all have new machines and they all dont want to spend any money on them. So Ive never had any tire to compaire my blackwaters to. So Im still entertaining the 486/586 combo for my king. I think I rather try and stay with stock tire sizes. The black waters are 1 inch taller I think.

Robh,
Im not even sure where Cochran is,where is it?Chuck [ecorman] and I talked about it a few times I think.I think our big plans for next yr have the Bad Lands of Indiana in it though.

I think the tire combo's in your last post would also be a nice choice.Look at pictures of ALL of them before you make your final decision, because they cost to damn much to make the WRONG choice.I really like the picture of them new Outlaws, good chatin with you my friend, rap to you in a little,
Bill
