Should i buy a 06 Z400
#1
Ok,i have 4,000 and i wanna buy a brand new quad and work on it and like fall in love with it.The Z400 is only 5,900 While the 450R,YFZ 450,LTR are all like 6,600 and higher. So im leaning towards a Z400.But with tax the 450R is not so far in the priceing.I want something that i can keep for many years and still like.lLike i hate the suzuki colors.i would prolly redo it with pink, silver,or blue plastics. But i also wanna beat my dads 350 raptor, also how fast do the Z400 go when with a pipe and a cople other things?
Thanks

I have a 2004 Raptor 350 and a Kamasaki 2004 KFX 400 (Same as the Suzuki LTZ 400) and really like the 400. I started with the Raptor 350 in May of 2004 and rode it for two summers. I changed the sprockets to a 12 on the front and a 40 on the back to gear it down for rough trail riding in the mountains and it worked very good for this. However, on the sand dunes with paddle tires I was slightly unhappy with the performance. It was marginal on power on steep dunes and I needed to keep the rpms up for torque. I could not lug the engine down at all
Last fall I purchased a used Kam KFX 400 and changed the sprockets to a 12 on the front and a 44 on the rear to gear it down for mtn trail riding. This spring I rode is at Imperial valley dunes in SE Calif and was very happy with the perforance! I was surprised at the difference between the Raptor 350 and the Kam 400. The 400 had very good low rpm torque which I really liked. I could lug the engine down, hit the throttle and it picked up immediately. Also It performed good in first gear on rough trails in the desert.

Yeah,i dont love near desert or dunes lol.so that like out of the question. But i do trail rideing and i like drad raceing, not hardcore tho.i just like to ride fast and have fun.
But year iv only been rideing since last summer.
i have a
06 250ex
350 Special edition Raptor
and i use to have a 03 660 Raptor
and the 660 raptor had some special work done to it befor we bought it.And it got close to 100 down the street. But we sold it because we didnt like it in the trails,it felt to huge and bolky.
But i found a 06 suzuki Z400,with 0milage for 4,999 Its some dealer haveing a clearence.

i would go for it. of all the bikes i ride with regularily, i like mine the best still. my friends got a blaster, 300ex, 5 friends with raptors, banshee, warrior, kfx 700, and a honda 450r. ive ridden all of um an like my kfx400 the most. any quad is fun but if u want a great all around atv then id get the 400. if i had to buy new again id make the same choice. i could go on an tell u what i dislike about all those machines but i dont wanna type that much. a couple of my freiends like my quad better than there own. but for 5gs do it i got mine for 5450. an btw i ride mostly fast trails an fields.

I would go for the Z400 . all the quads you listed are great. the yfz has a stiff suspension and the 450r doesnt have reverse and is a kick start
unless you buy the electric start for it and thats more money. as for the lt-r450 its still to pricey for the first year and it still has some problems to work out from what I here
