lt80 suzuki drive belt
#1
Is the drive belt on the suzuki lt80 supposed to be loose? I can touch both sides together. Also, I have an extra to change it, do you have to have all of those special tools to tak it off? Is there any home remedies out there or tricks that can be shared.....
Thanks.
Thanks.

not as far as I'm aware. I've worked on Predator and Kasea 50-90's and as long as the CVT clutch system is the same as on the LT's the belt should not be loose at all.
When the quad is off the belt should be very snug. The variator side is the pully system towards the front of the quad and other pully is the clutch system. To gain slack on the belt to be able to get it off, with both your hands, try and grip the clutch pully plates all the way out with your hand's & fingers and jam a 13-14 mil deep socket in there. It's not easy so wear good work/mechanic gloves. Once the socket is jamed in there push the belt deep into the pully clutch system so as to gain slack on the other (variator)side. You should now be able to pull the belt off from the variator pully. To put the new belt in jam it deep into the clutch side then pull out the socket. Work the belt around the variator pully. Sometimes I've found that I have to spin the entire CVT clutch system around to get the belt totally on the variator pully depending on the length of belt I'm using. There are different belt sizes out there.
