Default Any Ozark Owners out there....???

People

I am ready to buy a 250 Ozark for my boy and need some reinforcement or advice if I am making a mistake.

I like the fact that I can use the throttle screw to control the speed.
The small to mid size design fits him well.
Performace upgrades are available.
Everything I read says its a good machine for the money.

Does anyone own one of these?
How has maintenance and durability been?
Performance on the trails?

Any other models out there that I should be looking at? I am definately a Suzuki fan...

I wish there were more options out there at 300cc with 4X4 sytems.

Thanks,

Dave

I've got more than likely the most modded Suzuki Ozark out there. I ride it HARD, VERY HARD. I've put it through stuff that 99% of people wouldn't. Take a look at this picture for a quick sample........

This is almost 4' of water!!

The ONLY things I have had to do beyond normal service is tighten some of the bolts holding on the lights and accessoris and replace the front bearings. But, with how much I ride in mud it is expected. And, it took the bearings a year to start to go out.

Some have reported frames that crack. I don't know if they are jumping them or what because I have not had any cracks show up on mine at all.

Dollar for dollar, for a smaller sized quad it is the best that I could find. I shopped around and looked at the Arctic Cat 250, the Honda 250, the Kawasaki 220, the Polaris 200, and out of all of those, the Suzuki Ozark 250 was the best all around bike.

It has been a year and 3 months since I bought mine and I have NEVER had a regret. I am one happy customer!!

Thanks for the info. I purchased a RED 2006 from local Dealer today. It should be ready on Monday for pickup. My Boy is 10 but a good sized kid and has a full year of mountain riding under his belt. I plan on limiting the Throttle until he get a little older. I have heard great things about the Ozark and you just confirmed it.

I am a little concerned because I keep hearing the Ozark is a little Monster... I am not buying it for speed, I am buying it for Mountain and Sand riding. I think in alot of cases it is more dangerous to not have the POWER then have the Power.

The boys Sportsman 90 is just not tourquey enough (he is hitting a 100lbs and is about 5'2") his little sister just inherited it.

I will be contacting you for upgrade info.

Thanks,

Dave

We got our Ozark as the official "wife bike". About the time he turned 12, my oldest son started 'borrowing' the Ozark. Now it's his main ride. It's a good size for a kid who is now too big for the mini's - more than enough power to get out of trouble spots, yet not too fast. Much lighter and more managable tha a full suzed quad. Of the 250 class, the Ozark is the best, although a Recon is a good one too.

I have a 04 Ozark that I ride, no troubles at all I'd recommend it but not for a 10 year old. Way to heavy if he gets off camber. He won't have the physical strength to keep the quad from flipping.

My daughter is 12 and rides a Yamaha Breeze it's perfect for her.

Good Luck,

Philip

I have one. Just had it in northern Michigan on Saturday. Loved every minute of it. Went through some good mud and didn't do too bad in the sand. Overall, I was very impressed. It is my first atv, however.

Got one for my wife, very good machine. BIG increase in torque and pulling power over the mini. I used it to plow snow with 1 winter. Worked okay, but it is obviously not the same as a 4 wheel drive. It is a fun machine to ride if you are not looking for huge horsepower.

We have had 2 Ozarks for almost two years now. Great trail quad. They are light like a sports quad but have the mud protection like the big Utes. We have had no problems with them at all. We've just done basic maintenance.

Your Ozark sounds awesome! I'd sure love to see some pics of it. Do you have anything besides showing 95% of it below 4' of water? How about some close-up shots?

Side shot, before I installed the aftermarket lights

Front shot showing the lights now. The wheel is off in this pic because I was doing the wheel bearings.
