I have an auto so is there anything I need to change to accomodate 26" ITP 589s?

 

I have 26" Mudlites on mine. You shouldn't have any problems.

 

i was wondering the same thing about 27" tires ? 07 eiger auto

 

I have 27" gators with an aggressive tread, and I have no problems(see my pics). Only when I added 5" spacers did I get a light scrub up front and only when I am turning sharply. There is a bit of power loss and I have the manual Eiger and I have read that there is more power loss with the auto. With my riding style and where I ride I could afford to lose a little power and if I need it back I just use LOW range. Hope this helps.

 

yes it does help, the type of riding i do is usually on trails with some mud. did the power loss prevent you from using high range climbing a hill? i usually dont have to use low range unless the hill is really steep or i have to go really slow. thanks again.

 

No the loss doesn't stop me from much, just maybe getting stuck in mud I will have to use low to keep the wheels moving. I plan on gaining some of the power back by working on the air intake and jetting. I think I should gain the lost power and then some.

 

I am thinking of going to some bearclaws but am wanting to go wider than stock. Anybody else doing this and what sizes.

 

2" wider than stock seems to be the norm no matter what height you go to. I have 27-10-12(front) and 27-12-12(rear). It seems to give the bike a more "beefy" look than the stock sizes.

 

With a stock auto you'll feel it running out of steam in high gear going up long hills. It also will take a second to "spool up" when hitting the throttle hard from a standstill.
A clutch kit is relatively cheap and well worth it to get the power band right to make up for it.

 

Limping, the clutch kit install is my only concern given I will need to fabricate some tools to compress springs and disassemble the clutch unit. Trying to determine how necessary the kit would be.
