Default suzuki z400 2004

Hey, So im getting that 2004 suzuki z400 on friday, i rode it yesterday, SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE WARRIOR!!! it has a twin air filter and exhaust mod (just some holes in the baffle) Would 2005 front shocks bolt rite on and is it worth it or is there barely a difference? same with the carb would it bolt right on? Anyone know any mods that would fit from other stock 450's or anything that are good for the 400? Someone please give me light on the 400 also what do i need to take it easy with and stuff. Thank youu

the 04/05 quads most of the parts are interchangable with each other
buy you a nice exhaust, the whole system not just the silencer and rejet the carb you will fee the difference

going from a warrior to a Z is night and day... most of the parts from Z's of all years are interchangable including the shocks. Infact, most 400EX shocks will fit also and are softer. As I've read recently in other threads, in 05+ zuki put a TPS system but apparently not really needed on the 03-04 models so you can put a newer Z carb on it.

What you may want to look into is changing out soon is the clutch cover on your 04 because Z's have been know to have corrosion problems in them. The 04's+ came with a magnesium cover that causes the corrosion problem. Get ahold of an aluminum cover from an '03 or some aftermarket one. Look into past threads on this forum for places/prices to buy one. I'd check for corrosion right off. Who knows, the prev owner may have already changed the cover out already.

The first mod I'd do is the full pipe system/jetting/airfilter. Best upgrade to start with. As Mucky said, buy the whole system (including the header) for max performance gains. Yoshi seems to be the most popular choice here since Yoshi works directly with Team Zuki in developing their pipes.

From there you can move into cams/ign systems/high compresion pistons/etc for more HP.

Congrats on your new purchase.

I agree on a full system if you have alot of motor mods but if it's stock the yosh slip on works well.

2004 is safe from the side cover issues. They used aluminum in 03/04. The magnesium came with all the 2005 updates.

Good luck with the machine, they are great all around quads. I came from a Warrior to the z400 too, and I agree they don't even compare.

The '05 front suspension is much better and worth the upgrade. Look on e-bay, there are generally slightly used or new ones that racers took off in favor of some Elkas or something that you can get pretty cheap.
