Default took TRX450 for a ride today

my friend just bought a brand new honda TRX450 and i took it for a small ride today. Awesome looking machine, AND quick in my opinion. But there was one thing that didnt impress me... the turning radius SUCKED, compared to my good ol' 1986 Suzuki lt230 quadsport that is!! but overall its an awesome quad with PLENty of power.

don't need a tight turning radius you can just use the throttle and around she comes

Yeah, the 450 is a lot wider quad then the Qsport, and if you really need to turn tight, just get those rear wheels spinnin'!

I have at some point ridden most every quad there is, and I have never felt like the turning radius of the TRX was any larger than the average quad...........

One thing the TRX benefits from is a change in tires and being widened a bit. I run iRazrs on ITP wheels that are wider and have a greater offset than stock, and this widens it about +3" which gives greater stability, yet it isn't so wide that it can't be trail ridden.

The Suzuki 450 seems a bit wide in front for trail riding. Suzuki needs to come out with a trail version, for the average rider.

LOL reconranger, at +3", your 450R is wider than a stock 450 Quadracer by almost a 1/2"! 49.3" vs 49" even. Oh well, BigDimo is comparing the turning radius with a mid 80's Quadsport, not a Quadracer anyway. I loved my little Quadsport, it wasn't fast, but it was a lot of fun!

Actually, I don't know which model year 450 you own, rr, so maybe yours was 46.2" stock, but either way it is about the same width or wider than a stock LT-R

Scooter-It is ~49 in BACK, but not in FRONT. The Suzuki is 50" in FRONT.

It is easier to slip a wide REAR end through a tight trail, than it is to slip a wide FRONT end through, that was my point! I don't choose to ride the 450 on tight trails anyway, when I have a 400EX that is a much better trail machine.

Dude, the Zuk is 49", not 50." Either way, he is comparing the turning radius to a 230 Quadsport, which most likely does have a better turning radius. I guess I'm not really sure how the new Quadracer fits in here anyway. BigDimo, I was looking at the pic in your profile, that is an '85 right? I kind of wish manufacturers still put the engine cover guard on their footpegs.

That's what I had, an '86. Black nose and a blue seat. I figured you found an old publicity photo, there is no way a 20 y/o quad would look that showroom My side cases are trashed from mx boots rubbing on the current quad, no biggie, but the guard is a nice touch.
