Default 04 z440 help

hey everyone i just bought an 04 z400 off of my friend.. his uncle was a mechanic and put a new cylinder and piston in it to make it a 440.. it was working fine but now it keeps stalling out for no reason.. i can start it and leave it running for awhile but the second i give it some gas it dies.. any ideas on wat the problem is and/or what i can do to fix it?

Is there enough gas in the tank to be above the reserve point. They have a somewhat high reserve point and you wouldnt think that you would need to switch it over but that might be the case. Sounds like what happened to me when i first got my Z400. would start fine but the second i tried to give it gas it would cut out.

Flush your carb. May have something in it. Start with the miner thing's first.

When the choke lever is down like the arrow shows it is ON, Make sure once you have started it, the choke lever is all the way UP.

ok i finally figured out the problem.. i had sum water in the spark plug area so i pulled it out and soaked it up and works good now.. i think it should be fine now or should i actually take the spark plug out and clean it off because it seems hard to get to unless i removed the gas tank

well if you have water in it I would drain all the other gas out and clean off the spark plug or get a new one depending on its condition. As the guys said above me you should def check the jetting and if it hasn't been rejetted for the new setup then change it. Rtoyz also said about the choke which he is right about. Also be sure to check the filter and my suggestion is if you don't have a k&n change to it and keep it clean. One last useful thing is on my ozark for the winter there is a choice of pri on the fuel petcock which helps it when it is hard to start just incase you didn't know what that was in almost sure the z has is b/c my ozark does.
