Best pipe for LTZ400 ???
#1
I need to put a new pipe on my z400. Im not sure which is the best pipe to put on. Which pipe will make my z400 make a nice noise and also increase power and torque a bit.
Any info appreciated.

I just bought me a good used '03 Z400 a week ago (LOVE IT!!) & it came with a White Bros. E-Series. However the previous owner must not have really known what he was doing. He only had in 5 disks & the airbox lid still on with a 140 Main Jet. I rode the quad like this for a day & then rejetted to a 165 Main, needle up 1, & fuel screw out 3-3 1/4 turns out & put in 7 more disks (12 total) and pulled the airbox lid off & WOW!!
My one riding buddy has a Pro-Circuit slip on on his '04 KFX400 with a 170 Main, needle, fuel screw, etc. & his is just a tick stronger than mine, we're only talking 1/2 quad length in a straight drag for about 400-500 ft.
So, my opinion is either of these two would be a great choice.

Had this pipe with K/N filter...rejetted...ran very strong...would run all over stock machines and there was no other quad that hadnt had motor work that seemed stronger out on the dunes...ran into a Yosh 450 LTZ that was smokin everything one day out at sand mountain...didnt even line up against the thing.
However, would look at the type of riding you want to do with it and where you want you power to come on. Some pipes bring the power on sooner and may top out 1/2 to 1 hp less...and others have a very sharp climb with a little more hp rapped out...if your on the track, xc or trials you want the pipe that comes on the quickest and hardest...if you are duning or draggin then you want the pipe that gives you the most on top. LRD and CT were other ones that perked my interest when i was doing my research. My recommendation would be to find the best deal on one of these three and go with that. But again, all personal opinion based on preferred riding styles.

Mucky is right about the ALBA being a very loud pipe. It is over 112db. However I have a Wisper Tip on mine and it is down to 92db's. I lose 1hp on the bottom end and gain .6 on top.
It's a nice trade for us because we ride mostley on the dunes.
here is a link for this tip I got.
