lt 250 and lt 500

I can only attest to the 500. My understanding is top speed stock is 69 mph, 68 hp and No... These may be off but they were the responce i received from someone i asked. I've never truely been told the real reason for the stoppage of production of the zilla but it wasn't because the government stopped it. If someone knows the actual facts on this, i'd be a little curious.

Those numbers are a bit off. An old magazine article listed the stock speed at just over 79 mph. However, the stock hp was around 51.
I can tell you that I have 2 bone stock zilla's down to the tires. I took one out on the road to see how fast it could go. We used a small enduro bike (Honda 250 4 stroke) to pace it. The bike was new, and could go exactly 80 according to its speedometer. I actually passed him...very slowly. Probably not even 1 mph faster, but I still passed him. The zilla that I used has never been redone or opened up. In fact, it only has about 80% of its original compression.
The speed of the 250 depends on what year you're talking about. If I remember correctly, the later years (87-92) ran around 71 or 72 according to the same article. The 85-86 models were somewhat slower as they had less power and only 5 gears.

Hi,
Yagerzz is right on the money.
We tested the Zillas 9 ways from Sunday when I was at SCR.
A bone stock Zilla is "rated" at 51 HP and will put down 42-45 RWHP depending on the dyno used.
They will go 79-80 MPH BONE STOCK even w/the elephant ear front fenders.
By ONLY removing the plastic fenders a bone stock Zilla will go 84-86 MPH.
BTW: We went 132MPH on our NOS/twin carb/585CC Zilla in 1989 at SCR.......it was on the cover of Dirt Wheels.

132 mph, huh. That's average That had to be a scary azz ride. What kind of tires and gearing did you use? Any chance you'll gear up one of your 650's to try and break a land speed record? Also, sorry for the dumb question, but what is SCR?
I had no idea the front fenders slowed down the beast that much at higher speeds. Call me crazy, but I actually like the Dumbo look. I guess I'll have to rethink that when I finally build an RX'ed 500 motor using your pipe. (Might be contacting you sometime soon about that to get some prices BTW.) We've got two of your pipes and two engines that need to be built.

Yeh,
It was scary, especially w/Rusty on it.
BTW: the stock Zilla was at ~7200 RPMs for ~80MPH
The Suzuki Country Racing motor was geared @ 15/32 and was @ ~8100 RPMs for 132 MPH.
(The peak in the powerband was ~ 7600 W/out the NOS)
The Roidzilla pulls to over 9000 before it falls off.................... I think we could go over 140 MPH w/out the NOS w/the right set-up on a stock chassis....... no dumbo ears though.

Examples of 6 speeds: Banshee, Blaster, 250R, LT250R (later years).
Examples of 5 speeds: DS 650, Raptor 700, Quadzilla. Notice the trend here.
